Four people abducted at Paze, a community in Byazhin area on the outskirts of Kubwa town in the FCT, have regained their freedom.

The victims, who were taken in the early hours of New Year’s day, were released by their abductors on Friday night after payment of about N3 million ransom, our reporter gathered.

Speaking to City & Crime during the weekend, one of the released persons, Olanrewaju Olaito, said he still sees the incident as a movie show that he used to watch.

He said after trekking for about three hours on the night of the incident, the abductors made them lie on a rock watching toward the sky as they were tied together side-by-side.

“You can’t even turn your hands as they have been tied to two other different persons.

 “They later brought a fifth person who we learnt was abducted near Zuma Rock along the Abuja/Kaduna Highway when their vehicle stopped in the night for them to ease themselves.

Olaito further stated that their abductors moved them from the first location on their second day after sensing a strange movement there.

“No food, no water was given at the camps except on a single occasion when they provided us with a half-cooked yam stolen from a nearby farm and dirty water to drink.

 “All we went through was a beating and slapping experience from the abductors, while they were discussing with our family members about ransom.

 “We were so dehydrated before being released,’’ he added.

Daniel Audu, another released person, said the gunmen who he believed were not far away from the Dei-dei town in Abuja were running different camps spread over there.

He said the victims who could not bargain their freedom are transferred by the abductors to their permanent sites within Kaduna State, where they worked as slaves in their farms.
