Four passengers were killed and 10 others injured when a bus on speed crashed into a ditch at Ore in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Saturday.
A witness said the accident happened around 6.30am when the driver of the bus, identified as a Chisco Company luxurious bus with Reg no KSF 93 YG, lost control and ran into the ditch.
The witness, who preferred to remain anonymous, told Daily Trust on Sunday that officials of the Nigeria Police Force were quick to visit the scene alongside men of the Federal Road Safety Corps to evacuate the victims to the hospital.
Confirming the crash in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, blamed the driver of the passengers’ bus for the lone accident.

Mrs Odunlami-Omisanya explained that the driver, who was driving the passengers from Port Harcourt to Lagos State lost control of the vehicle before the crash occurred.
“Passengers in the vehicle were rushed to Grace of God hospital by the Police; four people were confirmed dead and their remains deposited at the hospital mortuary while 10 were injured and are being treated,” she said.
While sympathising with the families of the victims, Mrs Odunlami-Omisanya urged transport companies to always check the well-being of their drivers before transporting passengers with their vehicles.
