Four persons have been reported killed during a fight between rival cult groups in Benin, the Edo State capital.
It was gathered that a fight broke out between the cult groups on Monday over undisclosed issues, leading to the death of the four persons.
Our correspondent learnt that three of deceased persons were killed at different locations in Ogida axis, while the fourth was shot dead at Ugbor area.
Sources said the first victim at Ogida was killed by rival cult group at a joint, adding that they were killed between 9 and 10pm.
The second victim was said to have been killed in his bedroom, when unidentified gunmen shot him on his head through the window.
The third victim was allegedly chased by his attackers and killed with an axe, while the fourth victim was in the company of his friend when his assailants shot him from the back severally.
“I learnt that the young man was with one of his friends when some people attacked him. His friend was said to have run into his house, thinking that the victim also escaped, unknown to him that his friend was shot dead by the gunmen,” one of the sources said.
When contacted, the state police public relations officer, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, said he was not aware of the killings at Ogida. “I don’t know about the Ogida incident, what I know is what I will tell you,” he said.
