Daily Trust gathered that the explosion, which occurred around 3pm, left four other persons seriously injured. The injured were taken to a military hospital in the state capital.
A woman whose head was chopped off was the first casualty while three others died at the hospital, making a total of four.
When our correspondents visited the park around 4pm, rescue workers were seen evacuating the body parts of victims that littered around. The explosion destroyed a large part of the Ifeanyichukwu Transportation Company bus and other belongings of passengers.
In March last year, dozens were killed when multiple explosions rocked the busy park.
Witnesses told our correspondent that the explosive was given to an unsuspecting truck pusher by a man who pretended to be travelling.
Since the last March’s explosion, motorists have been barred from driving into the park.
A truck pusher at the park, Umar Isah, said the water dispenser was given to his colleague by a man who pretended to be travelling to the southern part of the country.
“Somebody stayed at the entrance of the park. He told Raster to take the water dispenser and some other luggage to the bus that he was going to travel with to Port Harcourt,” he said.
“Raster carried the luggage and dispenser to the bus and he was waiting for the owner to come when it exploded killing many persons. When we returned from where we ran, I saw Raster with serious injuries. I doubt if he will survive it.”
An Assistant commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano, Basil Igwebueze, who was also at the park to send a bag of rice to the South when the explosion occurred, said his face was covered by intestines of victims of the blast.
At the scene of the blast, the Kano state police commissioner, Adenerele Tasheed Shinaba, said only a woman was killed in the blast and that eight others sustained injuries.
He said the explosive was concealed in a refrigerator and that it exploded when a truck pusher was conveying it to the bus.
Around 7pm yesterday, a security source who was at the Armed Forces Hospital where the injured were taken to, told our correspondents that the death toll had risen to four.
The corpse of one of the victims was taken to his family at Hotoro Arewa area of Kano around 7.40pm yesterday by security operatives.  One of his neighbours, who gave his name as Sale Abdullahi, said the deceased operates a Taxi at the park.
Speaking at the park, Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso condemned the blast and urged people of the state to be on the alert. He said the perpetrators were enemies of the state.
He dissociated the state from a bill sent to the House of Assembly for the registration of non-northerners.
