4 men in police net over illegal possession of firearms

Four persons have been arrested by the police in Katsina for allegedly being in possession of two AK 47 rifles.

The suspects are: Alhaji Haruna Sani, 65; Ibrahim Rabi’u, 54; Alhaji Abdulrahaman Harisu, 40 and Anas Harisu, 23;  all of Dallawa Magaji Wando and Arawa Tumburkai villages of Dandume LGA of Katsina State

The spokesman of Katsina police command, SP Gambo Isah, said on December 11, 2019 at about 22:00hrs, information was received that the persons were in possession of two AK 47 rifles illegally.

“In the course of investigation, the suspects confessed to the crime and led policemen to the scene where two AK 47 rifles with breech numbers 406071 and 1413174 D60 were recovered,” he added

The suspects said they seized the firearms from suspected bandits that attacked their villages sometime in December, 2018 but refused to hand over the seized weapons to the police since then, the spokesman added.
