Police operatives in Rivers State have arrested four members of a suspected armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate that has been terrorizing the state.

The state police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed the arrests in a statement on Monday.

She said the suspects are in custody and an investigation is ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang and recover more of their weapons.

She said police recovered one locally-made revolver pistol, one live round of ammunition, hard drugs, criminal charms, and an ash-colored Toyota Sienna from the suspects.

The statement read, “The Rivers State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against violent crimes, following the arrest of four suspected members of an armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate.

“On August 8, 2025, at about 11:30 am, a team of operatives from the Bori Division, while on routine patrol along Nkpee Street, Bori, acted swiftly upon receiving a distress call regarding the suspicious activities of unknown persons in the area.

“The operatives apprehended the following suspects: Solomon Chris (26), Fabulous John (26), Wisdom Kalongo (30), and Wisdom Samuel (33).

“Items recovered from the suspects include one locally-made revolver pistol, one live round of ammunition, a quantity of hard drugs (loud), criminal charms, and one ash-colored Toyota Sienna with registration number BNY-758FS.

“The suspects are currently in custody, and an investigation is ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and recover more of their operational weapons.

“The Rivers State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and calls on members of the public to continue to provide timely and useful information to the police.”
