Police Public Relations Officer PPRO DSP Haruna Mohammed who confirmed the incident , said that Bauchi township Divisional Police Officer DPO and  two men of the Department of State Security Service were injured when irate youth hauled stones at the presidential convoy.
In a statement distributed to newsmen yesterday in Bauchi Mohammed said: “During PDP presidential rally in Bauchi,  group of miscreants went on rampage in some parts of Bauchi Town inciting disturbance of public peace where nine suspects were arrested by the combined security forces who rushed to the scene and restored normalcy in the area.”
“We didn’t allow our men to respond with fire. We managed the situation in order not to heat the polity and we have been able to restore law and order, we thanked God no life was lost.”
Mohammed said  as a result, the DPO Township Division. CSP Danlami Garba sustained serious injuries while trying to disperse crowd and is presently on admission at  the  hospital.
He said  suspects arrested assisted the police with useful information that led to further arrest of 31 others bringing the total number of suspects so far arrested to 40, adding that the  case is under investigation and suspects will be charged to Court as soon as investigation is concluded.
