The Lagos State government has established an initiative called Master Craftsman Project aimed at training and exposing 4,000 state’s artisans and craftsmen in the building construction industry  in order to revive the dearth of skilled workers.
The state’s Commissioner for Housing, Prince Gbolahan Lawal, who stated this during the flag- off ceremony of the project, which was in collaboration with Nigerian Institute of Builder (NIOB), developers and other players in the building industry, said the building industry plays an important role in the state economy which is the fifth largest in Africa.
“The project is intended to expose our craftsmen and artisans in the building construction industry to give them the training needed to offer suitable service to the people,” he added.
Lawal said the initiative was pioneered by the state’s governor Mr. Akinwummi Ambode in colloboration with relevant stakeholders in the industry to add value to the state’s housing delivery programmes.
