At least 4,200 Nigerians have benefited from the Lafarge Africa Plc and LAPO Microfinance Bank’s “Easy Home” scheme that facilitates the poor and the low income earners access to credit to build their own homes.
The Affordable Housing scheme initiative evolved out of the partnership between LAPO Microfinance Bank and Lafarge in October 2013. The scheme tagged “Easy Home” was initiated in response to the challenges of urbanisation in Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa, with a housing gap estimated at about 18 million units.
Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, Field Sales Manager-Affordable Housing & Buildings, Lafrage told our correspondent at the sidelines of the 2nd Housing Microfinance Academy organized by Lafarge in Abuja that since 2013, some 4,200 clients have benefited and more will still benefit going forward.
The 2nd Housing Microfinance Academy was held in partnership with the Agence Francaise Developpement (AFD) and International Finance Corporation (IFC).
