Members of two leading rival hoodlum groups in Kano communities numbering 43 have agreed to shun thuggery and surrendered themselves to the Kano State Police Command for peace talks.
The two groups from Kurna Tudun Fulani and Gangare in Ungogo LGA are known for their rivalry of decades which resulted in many losses of life and disruption of peace in the affected communities.
However, the groups, while paying a visit to the Commissioner of Police (CP), Muhammed Usaini Gumel, said they had now embraced peace and repented from criminal activities.
“The CP and Kano command have received a boost as another 43 thugs (Yan Daba) from two rival groups of Gobirawa-Gangare and Tudun Fulani Quarters of Ungogo LGA of the state embraced the peace and surrendered themselves to the command in company of some elders who are stakeholders from the communities.

“This has brought the total number of repentant thugs in the state to 143.
“These 43 thugs from the two rival groups had previously engaged in violent rival fights for more than five years, leading to attacks on citizens resulting in loss of lives, injuries to people and damage to property,” spokesman of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said.
