Thugs invaded the home of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party gubernatorial candidate in Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya, on Tuesday, Daily Trust gathered. The thugs also destroyed the party’s bill boards, posters and buildings in Gombe town.
Addressing journalists, yesterday, Yahaya alleged that the thugs were sent by the PDP.
“It was around 6pm and I was holding a meeting with some of our key party members in my house when suddenly we heard a noise. The thugs forced their way into my house, after attacking the security detail attached to me. When they realised that there were security personnel around the area they ran away.”
He said: “We have been facing such harassments and we notified the police but unfortunately nothing has been done about it. We are law abiding citizens and we will continue to go to the police until they take action. Five vehicles were seriously damaged by the thugs.”
He blamed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members for the attack.
When contacted, the state Chairman of the PDP Shuaibu Baba Sabulu, said it was not the handiwork of the PDP, saying that his party cannot engage in such criminal activities.
“I always advise my people not to touch or harm anybody. It is God who gives power and whoever He says will be the next governor of Gombe State will win the election,” Sabulu said.
