The All Progressives Congress (APC), Anambra State chapter, has elected Emeka Ibe, as the chairman of the party.
Ibe was returned at the state congress of the party on Saturday.
Others who were elected at the congress included Chukwuma Agufugo, secretary, Mrs Onyinye Okongwu, treasurer, Okelo Madukaife, publicity secretary, Engineer Emeka Nnodu, financial secretary, Emma Chikelu, legal adviser, Mr. Obidike, auditor, and Mrs Calista Nwachukwu, women leader.
About 35 seats were contested for in the election with 2,007 delegates participating.
Chairman of the congress committee, Ogbuehi Ezenna, while announcing the winners, disclosed that the work of the committee was made easier through a harmonisation exercise that took place at the Ekwueme Square in Awka.
Speaking after his election, the new state chairman pledged to carry everybody along, saying he would work to ensure that APC becomes the party to beat in the state.
Also speaking, the leader of the party in the state and senator representing Anambra Central senatorial district, Senator Chris Ngige, said the peaceful nature of the congress was an indication of the progressive nature of the party.
