 Obafemi Martins- “Obagoal” as he is fondly called is having one of his best seasons as a professional footballer with Seattle Sounders, where he is second top scorer in the United States Major League Soccer. He has also broken the record for most goals in a single match but all that wasn’t enough as the former Newcastle player was continuously ignored by former manager Stephen Keshi who has always maintained that Martins has past his prime and should allow younger players the opportunity to get into the team. However, as one of Amodu Shuaibu’s favourite players during his second and third stint with the team, Obagoal will be expected to make a comeback and hopefully score the needed goals to qualify Nigeria for AFCON 2015
 Kalu Uche- this is another player that could have his international career revived now that a new gaffer has taken charge. In the course of Nigeria’s below par 2015 AFCON qualifiers run, one of the major weaknesses has been the lack of a true and experienced attacking midfielder in the mould of the senior of the two Uche’s. Given his immense experience on the international stage and considerable exploits for Al Rayyan in the Qatari league this season, this player might be on his way back to the national team.
