Their conversations are centred on one major topic: The whereabouts of Chris Oyakhilome’s wife, whom, together with her husband, are arguably one of the most famous couple-pastors in Nigeria. However, speculations is rife online on the absence of the Pastor’s wife for several months without a befitting explanation. Pastor Oyakhilome one of the largest congregations in Africa, a ministry that has spanned over 25 years. He is known as a pastor, teacher, , television host and bestselling author of Rhapsody of Realities, a daily devotional he co-authors with his wife and which has been translated into about 148 languages. This and more appears to be reason enough for the curiosity of many. However, the Christ Embassy website still features pictures of the couple, with a welcome video where they are shown together. Time, perhaps, will tell.

Funke Akindele

In Nigeria, divorce cases among couples that are household names are becoming less of a phenomenon, although the stir it causes is always there. In 2013, one such event got actress Akindele OlufunkeAyotunde – popularly known as Funke Akindele – smack in the middle of media attention. Information Nigeria reported that her husband, Kehinde Oloyede, broke the news on his Facebook page, confirming the reports. Later, the actress herself revealed that indeed, they had separated.
The shocking aspect of this couple’s split was the fact that the wedding had been just about a year old. Oloyede was a real estate business man and according to the NETng Akindele’s decision to marry the real estate businessman in 2012 was severely criticised by her fans and the media who wondered why she should get involved in polygamy.

Kate Henshaw

This woman, once a girl in Nigerian home videos, made a match with her hobby, which made them once classified as ‘one of the best couples in the entertainment industry.’ But star actress Kate Henshaw’s marriage, which lasted about 12 years, hit the rocks in 2011. She was married to a Brit, Roderick James Nuttal who was at that time Managing Director of Ledrop Nigeria Ltd. Nigeria Films.com later in 2013 linked the separation to the husband’s affair with his secretary.

Eucharia Anunobi

She is another actress who has gone through the divorce loop. Her intriguing roles on screen made her a smashing favourite of movie lovers. But married to Charles Ekwu in 2000, they remained separated for several years, after which a prolonged court battle ensued. The actress, popularly known as UK, came into limelight in the 1996 movie ‘Glamour Girls’ and had since starred in many movies.

Daniel Ademinokan

Another disheartening occurrence was the torn marriage between Nollywood movie producer, Daniel Ademinokan and actress Doris Simon. This may be one of the evidence many may have to point out that union between two celebrities can never work. However, the ‘everlasting’ marriage between Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva still lends a great deal of hope to a wedding between celebrities. In America, divorce among celebrities is common. Access Hollywood reported that Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise divorced in 2012, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt who got married in 2000, split in 2005 and Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony among many others. The ‘divorced list’ is unending, of actors, actresses, musical artists, and so on.  

Monalisa Chinda

This actress is not the first to get divorced, but reports that she had endured physical violence made her case unique. She was married to Segun Dejo-Richards, a union that led to the birth of a daughter. However, Dejo-Richards later remarried. The light-skinned, Rivers State-born actress is a well-known face in Nollywood. With her, the list of stars who had gone down the divorce lane only got longer.
