An Ekiti State Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has sentenced five persons to two months’ imprisonment for dumping refuse on the road median along Adebayo road in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The offenders, who include Olatoye Mercy, Ademi Adebayo, Kayode Omotoso, Ojo Eleruku, and Babatunde Rufus, were arrested by officials of the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority early on Monday morning for violating environmental rules. They were subsequently charged to court for violating laws.
In his ruling, the Magistrate, Bankole Oluwasanmi, sentenced the offenders to two months’ imprisonment with an option of N5,000 fine each.
