Five people have been killed in a fresh attack on Anter community of Mbalagh Council Ward in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State.
Villagers told our correspondent that the incident happened on Tuesday evening.
The locals listed names of victims as, Ave Usaar, Temanenge Kyer, Kpungu Orbakpa, Aondoakura Akume and Terkimbir Orbakpa.
It was, however, learnt that the bodies of the first three victims have been found and buried while the search to recover the remains of the remaining two was ongoing at the time of filing this report.
The Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Security Matters, Lt. Col. Paul Hemba (retd), said he had only received the reports of two persons killed in the community on Tuesday by armed herders.
In a telephone conversation with our correspondent, Hemba said he was not yet aware of the killing of three other victims.
On her part, Police spokesperson for Benue Command, DSP Catherine Anene, said, “I have not received this report.”
