Residents of Kubwa town and other adjacent communities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), who have been subjected to a serious water crisis following the breakdown of one of the major transmission pipelines in the area will now have a relief after the pipeline was fixed yesterday.

Abuja Metro reports that the affected pipe, said to be of 300mm capacity, is located along the Gado Nasko Way by Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki road junction in the town.

Some water board officials in the area, whohad earlier spoken to our reporter on the issue under the condition of anonymity, said the pipe was originally provided to boost the water capacity in the town as well as supply water to some communities, located along the Kubwa-Dei-Dei expressway.

The sources further disclosed that the water pressure in the area had been affected by leakages in the pipe, which reportedly started more than five months ago without necessary attention from the FCT Water Board.

However, when Abuja Metro called the attention of the General Manager of the board,Daniel Salka,he said he was not aware of the broken pipeline but promised to make enquiries about it for necessary action.

Our reporter who was at the scene yesterday evening, however, reports that officials of the Board had fixed the broken pipe and restored full water supply to the area.

Most of the residents, who spoke with Abuja Metro at the scene, commended the General Manger for restoring the water fully to the area.

One of the residents, Jumai Habiba, said, ‘’Even though it is a bit delay, we thank God that they have eventually fix it.’’
