5 remanded over kidnapping, murder in Ekiti

A Chief Magistrate’s court in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of five individuals in a correctional facility over allegations of conspiracy, kidnapping and murder.

The accused are Ali Saliu Madaoki (25), Oriyomi Gambo (20), Suaibu Umaru (45), Ibrahim Abdulahi (27), and Subaru Lawal (40).

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, said they are suspected of kidnapping one Jibril Abu, Ibrahim Baba, Ilyasu Guda and Awa Jubril.

The prosecutor also alleged that the defendants committed armed robbery against one Adisa Ali, Mohamidu Ibrahim and Awa Jubril and as well murdered one Mohamidu Ibrahim and Ibrahim Baba.

Inspector Oriyomi said the offences are punishable under Sections 314, 312(2)(a) & (b), 279(1)(a), (c), and 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

He said the alleged crimes occurred at Ayedun camp in the Ikole-Ekiti Magisterial District on or about May 7, 2025, at 11pm.

Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun ordered the defendants to be remanded in custody and adjourned the case until September 9, for mention.
