A High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has sentenced five men to death by hanging for conspiracy, armed robbery and murder.
The convicted individuals-Ojo Tope, Damilola Christopher, Joshua Adegoke, Aderopo Temitope and Oyedele Oluwatobi-were also handed a 21-year prison term each for conspiracy.
Delivering judgment, Justice O. O. Olatawura ruled that the prosecution had proven the charges of armed robbery, murder and conspiracy beyond reasonable doubt.
According to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Barrister Julius Ajibare, the offences occurred on August 18, 2021, at Agogo Street, Ilupeju Avenue, Odo-Ado, in Ado-Ekiti.

The victims were robbed of cash, laptops, mobile phones and other valuables. During the robbery, the convicts killed the local night guard, identified as Joseph Blessing.
Ajibare, who prosecuted the case on behalf of the state, presented four witnesses and tendered 13 exhibits.
The defendants, represented by Adeyinka Opaleke, each testified in their defence without calling additional witnesses.
