5 suspected cultists, robbers nabbed in Delta

Operatives of the Delta State police command have arrested five suspected cultists and armed robbers.

City & Crime reports that the suspects were arrested in their hideouts by special operatives deployed by the commissioner of police, Olufemi Abaniwonda in Ughelli and a Special Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) deployed to Nsukwa community in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state,

The spokesperson of the command, Bright Edafe, disclosed this to newsmen in Asaba. He said that four suspects – Amaechi Ichiagu of Ozalla town in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, Akpomiemie Larry, Bright Ovie and Ese Ogodo – were arrested at Jesse, Ugbomaja and Okpe communities in Ethiope West Local Government Area.

He also said investigations revealed that apart from their involvement in cult- related activities, they also engaged in armed robbery.

Edafe added that one Christian Bugwa of Nsukwa village in Aniocha, Aniocha South Local Government Area, was also arrested for alleged cult activities.

He said the suspect confessed to being a member of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity.

The police image maker listed items recovered from the suspects to include  a locally made cut-to-size gun, one cut-to-size locally made single-barrel gun and  one live cartridge.
