50 stolen cows recovered in Lagos

The Miyatti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria has disclosed its recovery of 50 stolen cows at the Abattoir Cattle Market in Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State. 
 The national chairman of the association, Alhaji Muhammadu Kirwa, told our correspondent that the Lagos State chairman of the association, Alhaji Abdullahi Lailaga, discovered that 29 of the cows were stolen from Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.
 He added that with the help of the Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, the cows were returned to their owners and those involved in the theft were punished accordingly. 
He further stated that 60 cows were stolen from Kaduna State and 38 of these were brought to Lagos, while another 12 cows which were stolen from Zamfara State, were also recovered in Lagos. He added that four men involved in the theft were arrested and handed over to the police station near Abattoir Cattle Market for further investigation.
 According to him, the recovered cows which had been taken back to Kaduna and Zamfara States, would be handed back to their actual owners who would be traced with the help of officials of the two sate governments.
He urged the leaders of the Miyatti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in all the cattle markets across the country to be vigilant, adding that through proper screening of the cows in their markets, they would be able to uncover the stolen ones.
He also urged governors of the states in the North, to give the association the necessary support in its efforts to tackle the menace of cattle rustling.
