50-year-old man arrested with human skull, as police nab poly student for robbery

The Oyo State Police Command yesterday paraded a 50-year-old man, Mukaila Adewale, who allegedly exhumed the skull of one of his relatives for money ritual, and a National Diploma II student of the Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, Oyo State, Adedigba Elisha,‎ who was described as a  specialist in stealing motorcycles at viewing centres.

 The Commissioner of Police in the state, Abiodun Odude, who paraded the suspects at a press conference in Ibadan, also paraded three suspected Ibadan-based members of a kidnapping syndicate that allegedly abducted a Lebanese, Mr. Elias Bashour. The three men are Yusuf Adebayo, Kazeem Ajani and Ahmed Yusuf.

  Adewale told reporters he actually dug up the skull from its grave with a view to using it for money ritual.

 “I’m a native doctor. That fateful day, when police got to my house, they accused me of selling Indian hemp and I told them there was nothing of such.

 “I allowed them to search my house. Unknowing to me, they had information about the human skull I kept in a container in the front of my house. When they brought it out, I was amazed. They then arrested me,” he said.

 Elisha said he was stealing motorcycles for survival. “My parents are not financially buoyant. ‎I just finished my ND and where there was no means of survival, I had to engage in stealing okada (motorcycles). It wasn’t deliberate,” he pleaded.

 Odude further said five armed robbery suspects – David Igwe, Francis Chidiebere, Dele Koffi-Robot, Chinoso Igwe and Oliver Ugochukwu – were arrested with two stolen motorcycles in Ibadan.

  The police commissioner also disclosed that a 32-year-old, Saheed Oloruntoyin, was arrested for allegedly snatching cars in the state, a Honda CRV was recovered from Adegboyega Ojo and Roland Emmanuel, while a Toyota Corolla saloon was recovered from one Tekuma Dzever in the state.

 The police boss stated that while one Nurudeen Muyideen was arrested allegedly for impersonation; Olajide Akanmu, Femi Akanji, Ali Ibrahim, Jacob Nnaji, Adekunle Babajide, Yusuf Adebayo, Kazeem Ajani and Ahmed Yusuf were also arrested allegedly for burgling houses.
