The Commandant-General of NSCDC, Dr. Ade Abolurin at the ground breaking ceremony noted that the housing project is being actualized through a public/private partnership with Royal Voyage Company Limited as partners.
According to him, the concept of NSCDC residential estate otherwise known as Civil Defenders Estate would further enhance the effectiveness of the corps as well as improve their welfare.
“The Civil Defenders Estate is a 500-unit residential estate consisting of two and three-bedroom fully and semi-detached bungalows with a proposed state-of-the-art infrastructure.
“Corps that are interested in making Kaduna their domicile will acquire the houses through their respective National Housing Fund contributions,” he said, adding that possession is immediate on completion of the houses.
Abolurin who was represented by the Assistant Commandant General and Zonal Commander, Zone B Kaduna, Madu Kelechi appreciated Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero for allocating 69.788 hectares of land for the project; promising that they will not let the state down in matters of security and synergy with their sister agencies.
In his remark, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Royal Voyage Co. Ltd, Alhaji Muhammad Kudu said the total cost of the project is N3.9 billion.
