About 500 widows on Kaduna state have been empowered with a N37 million business grant to cater for themselves amd their families.
The women who were selected from the 22 wards of the Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency, were given N30,000 each, while those with outstanding business proposals were given between N300,000 to N500,000.
Speaking at the distribution, House of Representatives Member representing Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, Gabriel Saleh Zock said the gesture was part of the efforts to ease the hardship currently being faced in the country.
Zock said those who run successful businesses will be further empowered with a N1 million grant after one year.

According to him, “We are here to empower the religious leaders in this month of Ramadan for the Muslims and also the season of lent for the Christians. So I deemed it fit to show my own support to the religious leaders and urged them to sacrifice their time and pray for the country so we can have peace.”
Earlier, a Director from the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Chukwuemeka Mba, Director of Training CMB, Kenneth Okoro and Barrister Abdulkadir Bello Idris presented papers on Gender Based Violence (GBV) and how women and communities can stop the scourge.
