Pleasant Library and Book Club in collaboration with Concerned Teachers Forum Katsina have donated 5,000 text books children of poor background under its new initiated programme aimed at assisting children of the poor and vulnerable to have access to text books.

Chairman of the forum Malam Usman Hadi, said this renewed efforts will go a long way in ensuring the children of the downtrodden are at par with the children of well to do in schools.

He said, the books are sourced from the general public for onward distribution to the identified children saying that  the textbooks donated were on all the subjects’

He said people have responded positively to our call, because for now, we have thousands of textbooks donated by people within and outside the state.

“We are going to take the books to different primary and secondary schools in the state for distribution to children of the poor. As serving teachers in the state, we noticed that some children are brilliant but their parents cannot afford to buy text books for them,” he said.

He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the textbooks because it would assist them to realize their dream.
