Kano Digital Innovation Network (KDIN) said it is hosting “the biggest tech show in northern Nigeria” in September targeting about 5,000 tech innovators from within and outside the country.

The conference, with the theme, “Economic resilience: Addressing financial inclusion, food security, urban challenges and green economy in Nigeria”, is sponsored by KDIN in partnership with the Kano state government.

Addressing newsmen in Kano, the KDIN acting President, Abdulsalam Hamza Maiturare, said the conference is a gathering of tech practitioners, IT enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, investors and people that have passion for technology within and outside Nigeria.

He said the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima is expected to be the special guest of honour during the conference.

He explained that apart from Nigeria, the conference is expected to have participants from South Africa, Canada, US, Kenya, Zimbabwe among other countries.

Maiturare said, “It is coming up after the success of the maiden conference we had in 2022, where more than 2,000 people participated from different parts of Nigeria. The program also features pre-conference workshops for youths, women entrepreneurs, government employees and business people.

“We are targeting about 5,000 people this year, both physically and virtually. Our target participants are startups, IT practitioners, entrepreneurs, government agencies and employees, traders, women, students, youths and innovators. That is why we call it the most impactful tech event in northern Nigeria.

“Part of our success story is people who did not have interest in the tech sector are now beginning to have it after our last conference. Many people who don’t know how to use technology in their businesses are now adopting it even beyond our expectation,” he added.
