About 10,000 women and youth farmers from across 50,000 households in Kogi State are to benefit from the $200million grant of the World Bank-assisted Agro Processing Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Support (APPEALS) project.

APPEALS National Project Coordinator, Dr Amin Babandi, disclosed this yesterday in Lokoja during a stakeholders’ sensitisation workshop organized by the Kogi State Coordination Office of the APPEALS project.

The National Project Coordinator, who was represented by Dr Adekunle Adesoye, said the project would be supporting beneficiaries in the state under three priority value chains (crops) namely, rice, cassava and cashew.

Governor Yahaya Bello, who was represented by the Secretary to State Government (SSG) Dr. (Mrs) Folashade Arike Ayoade, urged the people of the state to avail themselves of the opportunity offered by the project to enhance their economic wellbeing.

Kogi State Project Coordinator of APPEALS, Dr Sanni Abdullahi Ozomata, said the sensitization was designed to interface with farmers, traditional rulers, local council officials, commodity and farmers’ associations to get them buy-in into the project.
