The Edo State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has secured the conviction of 51 drug traffickers and dealers this year.
Spokesman of the command, Ondotimi Bebetu, who disclosed this while speaking on the successes recorded by the command within the year, explained that “From January to September, the command secured the conviction of 51 drug traffickers and dealers across various courts in Edo State.
Bebetu also disclosed that over 100 drug users were counselled by the command within the period under review.
He added those counselled would be reunited with their families while others who were deep in it were to still report to the command as a follow-up to help them overcome their addiction.

He called on parents and guardians to monitor their children and wards, knowing their friends and checking their phones and bags to ensure that they were free of drugs
He attributed most of the crimes committed in the country by mostly youths to drug consumption, which he said was very alarming.
