The Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr Ado Muhammed, who made this known during a briefing, said the agency intends to provide services like malaria drugs, testing, HIV/AIDS testing, and immunization among others.
According to him about 40 million women of child bearing age will be vaccinated, 7 million mothers will receive services ranging from malaria, HIV/AIDS and 7.5 million children will be immunized against childhood diseases.
His words, “This intervention will target children aged under five, we intend to use high level interventions and low cost interventions that are very impactful, like give Zinc, encourage women to go for antenatal,  give malaria preventive materials, provide deworming tablets for women and children”.
This is the 10th round of the MNCH week and we always target 27 million children with Vitamin A, and try to vaccine the 568,604 missed children with antigens and provide care for 468,000 pregnant women.
Earlier, the director community health services, Dr Emmanuel Odu, said that the exercise is conducted twice every year, in May-June and in November-December.
He explained that the intervention was consolidated into a policy to help reduce the number of children and women who die from preventable causes.
