A 55-year-old man, Sunday Oroke, was on Thursday brought before a Makurdi area court for stealing a cow.

The police charged Oroke, who lives at Igumale town in Ado LGA of Benue State, with criminal breach of trust, cheating and theft.

The prosecutor, Insp Rachel Mchiave, told the court that the case was received through a petition addressed to the Commissioner of Police from one by Miss Patience Obeta dated June 23.

Miss Obeta, in the petition, alleged that she sometime in February, gave the defendant a cow she bought for N250,000 from him to take care of till March when she would take over possession.

The prosecutor said that the defendant sold the cow without the complainant’s consent and converted the money to his personal use

The Magistrate, Mrs Dooshima Ikpambese, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned to July 21. (NAN)
