A total of 57,469 students have passed the Junior School Certificate Examination (JSCE) in Bauchi State.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Education, Professor Haruna Abdullahi Danwanka.

According to him, 59,334 students from 562 public schools and ‎ 150 private schools across the state wrote the examination to obtain the Basic Education Examination certification.

He said the 57,469 students who passed the examination represented 96.85 percent which he said was an excellent achievement.

Danwanka, however informed that 1,619 students representing 2.72 percent would re-sit ‎various subjects while 246 students representing 0.41 percent would repeat JSS 3 and later sit for the examination.

“In accordance with UBEC guidelines, any candidate that scores 40% in six core subjects, English Language, Math, Civic Education, Basic Technology, Basic Science and Social Studies, is eligible for admission into SSS 1.

“Similarly, any candidate who scores below 40% in the six core subjects mentioned above will repeat JSS 3. Failure in the remaining subjects, the candidate will re-sit the subjects, “he said.
