The Agora of Zuba, Alhaji Muhammed Bello Umar, has said six children were so far missing in just one month in the area.

Bello, who expressed concern over the incidents, stated this when he summoned traditional rulers, title holders, community leaders as well as representatives of security agencies, which also had the Zuba Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Wilson Dankwanu, in attendance at his palace last Friday.

He said the palace decided to summon the emergency meeting to deliberate on the incessant cases of kidnapping of under aged children by yet to be identified persons in his chiefdom.

He said the spate of missing children under his chiefdom has become a source of worry not only to the affected families but the palace.

He lamented that the influx of strange people to Zuba was  making it a black spot for crimes.

He, however, suggested  that security agencies liaise with all executives of the commercial motorcycle unions to start use of reflective jackets for easy identification as efforts will be made to ascertain the kind of  people who reside in the area.

“The spate of kidnapping of children in Zuba has become a nightmare to us. Just within the last one month, six children were reported missing . And it is in this regard I am calling on security agencies to liaise with Okada unions to advise their members to start using reflective jackets for easy identification,” he said.

The traditional ruler said the palace will also meet with the FCT minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, on the need to deploy more security in the area, saying Zuba shares  boundary with Niger State and is also a gateway to the FCT.

“I will also want to call on all the village chiefs, tribal chiefs and community leaders as well district heads to ensure they know the kind of people that they accommodate in their respective domains,” he added.

On his part, the Zuba DPO,  CSP Wilson Dankwanu, said he will work with other security agents to safeguard the lives and property of residents of the area.

He also cautioned commercial motorcycle riders to avoid running about to pick passengers during late hours, adding that tea sellers should also avoid staying outside to attend to customers at late hours.
