A road accident at Upper Iweka Junction in Onitsha, Anambra State, claimed six lives and left several others injured on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses said a truck lost control and hit pedestrians, two tricycles and a commercial bus filled with passengers.
Confirming the incident, Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said officers swiftly secured the scene to maintain order and facilitate investigations.
“The accident occurred around 9 am on March 15, 2025, at Upper Iweka Junction, claiming six lives and causing multiple injuries. The police are ensuring order and conducting investigations,” Ikenga said.

He added that the injured are receiving medical treatment while the deceased have been moved to the morgue and their relatives have been informed.
Ikenga urged motorists to conduct proper vehicle checks and adhere to safety measures before hitting the road.
