Six members of a family who were abducted by kidnappers have regained their freedom after payment of N700,000 cash and some foodstuff by their relatives.

Daily Trust had reported that the six family members were abducted after one of them was shot dead by the kidnappers while working on a farm at Lagbeta community in Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State on November 21, 2021.

Daily Trust reports that Lagbeta is about 50 meters away from the ever-busy Abuja-Lokoja highway.

A relative of the victims, Bulus, said they were released on Sunday around 6:30pm at a forest in Adadu village in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

He said apart from the N700,000, a bag of rice, spaghetti, packets of cigarettes, drugs and wines were also presented to them before the victims were set free.

“We still give glory to God that six of them returned home alive on Sunday evening, even though we are still mourning one of them that was killed by the abductors at the farm,” he said.

The spokesman of the Kogi State Police Command, CSP Williams Ovye Aya, was yet to pick calls or reply to text messages sent to him to confirm the release of the victims.
