6 firms to begin In-Country manufacturing of Oil & Gas Equipments

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has said that out of the ten firms that have applied to occupy the board’s industrial park at Emeyal 1 in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State, six have met the requirements to begin the In-Country manufacturing of equipment used in oil and gas production.

Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr Felix Omatsola Ogbe, stated this over the weekend when the Senate Committee on Local Content led by the Chairman, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, visited the headquarters of the board and projects executed by the board as part of the oversight function.

He also solicited for the exclusion of the Nigerian Content Development Fund (NCDF) from revenue deductions in line with Section 104 of the NOGICD Act which sets up the NCDF for development of Nigerian Content.

Ogbe stated that the board is looking at firms who could produce the necessary equipment used in the oil and gas production such as bolt, nuts, do fabrications and tailoring, among others at the commencement of the industrial park later in the year.

He said: “People are trying to take over some of the spaces at the park, and facility managers are busy cleaning up the area already completed for occupancy, so we believe that before the end of the year, once we get the power running, generators will soon be on ground and intakes hook up, and there is power in the complex, then we will allocate the complex to individuals who are interested.

 

 

 

“As we speak, we have ten applicants already and about six meet the requirements, so we are working with those people and trying to enlighten more people to come onboard, we are expecting more applications to enable us see the credible people who can occupy the NOGOP park.

 

 

 

“We are looking at small and medium scale factories, people who do bolt and nuts, people who want to do little fabrications, people who want to do like tailoring, like safety wears and we have space for people who want to do chemicals, where they can put together their factories, their industry, we have space for them.” He said.

 

 

 

Also speaking, the Vice Chairman , Senate Committee on Local Content, Senator Ede Dafinone, promised that the 10th National Assembly will work with the NCDMB to fully Nigerianize Workforce in the oil and gas sector of the country.
