6 govs, coys to receive housing industry awards

The organisers  of   the Abuja Housing Show  has nominated six governors and companies for awards for  pursuing mass housing policies and bringing innovations in the construction sector.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fesadeb Communications, Festus Adebayo, who announced this, yesterday, said that the award was designed to celebrate excellence in affordable housing.
He said that the award winners emerged following an online poll conducted between May 25 and June 5, 2016, via website/blog www.housingnews.org.ng/award.
Adabayo said that the award was a way of  rewarding peoples  achievements and promoting housing development in Nigeria.
The governors are: Umar Ganduje of Kano, Simon Lalong of Plateau, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu.
In the company category, Solignum was given the Wood Preservative Product of the Year. Sungold Estate Ltd was recognised as the Fastest Growing  Estate Company of the Year while Adron Homes would receive the Award of Excellence in Estate Development.
Erstwhile Director of Development Control of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), Mr Yahaya Yusuf, would be given the Town Planner of the Year just as a former permanent secretary of the defunct ministry of housing and urban development, Dr Ezekiel Oyemomi, was given  the Life Achievement Award. 
A town planner and columnist with Daily Trust newspaper, Mr Umar Shuaibu got the Housing Industry Columnist of the Year.
In the female category, an executive director with the Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company (NMRC), Dr Chii Akporji, won the Outstanding Female Finance Executive of the Year while the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Urban Shelter Ltd, Sa’adiya Aminu, was the Female Housing CEO of the Year. Others  comprised Rev. Ugo Chime, President  of Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria. Mr David Garnva, a town planner and Mr Kunle Faleti, a mortgage consultant.
