6 injured in Edo auto crash

Six persons were on Tuesday evening injured in an accident that happened on the Muritala Muhammed way by Ikpoba slope, Benin City, the Edo state capital.

Daily Trust reports that 20 others escaped unhurt in the accident.

It was gathered that a truck heading towards Agbor road on speed lost concentration and in the process rammed into five other vehicles, injuring six persons.

It was learnt that one of the vehicles plunged into Ikpoba river as a result of the impact of the accident.

When contacted, the Edo State Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Cyril Mathew, confirmed the accident.

He attributed the accident to speed and lost of concentration by the truck driver.

“The accident happened at Ikpoba slope before the tipper garage, it was serious but no one died in the accident,” he said.

“It involve six vehicles including the truck. 26 persons were involved, 11 male adult and 15 female adults. Six person’s injured including four male and two female. No one was killed”.
