6 Nigerian artistes making money outside music

Many Nigerian artistes have now diversified their talents into making money outside their main hustles, and become serial entrepreneurs on the side. This week, Weekend Magazine takes a look at a few artistes who have made money away from their music careers.

 

Yemi Alade

The ‘Johnny’ singer’s talents aren’t limited to just music, as she has also proven herself to be a great entrepreneur as well. But away from the music, Yemi launched her own jewelry line back in 2015 called ‘The Yemi Alade Collection’ with an array of costume jewelry made curated according to her own personality.

 

eLDee

Although eLDee has shied away from the limelight, his career outside music proves to be quite an impressive one. Asides directing and producing, he is also a media consultant for reputable international organizations and brands from CNN, UPS, Warner Bros., Cartoon Network and many others as well. Asides from that, he is also into technology and heads his own firm, Play Data.

 

P-Square

The now defunct music duo of Peter and Paul Okoye, P-Square also have multi-million naira investments including the Rayfield Hotel they own in Jos, a bakery and water company they opened as well for their parents. Asides that, they own a lot of real estate in the United States and back here at home as well in Lagos, Jos and Port Harcourt.

 

Terry G

Terry G is also another artiste who has left the music scene to focus on making money away from record sales. He has since launched his own table water company and distributes them as well, and also revealed plans to open a bakery.

 

2Face

2Face Idibia, now known as 2Baba is one of Nigeria’s most celebrated acts, gaining international fame in the course of his career. But asides that, the ‘Amaka’ singer owns a number real estate properties all over Lagos from the mainland right to the island as well and using them for smart investments.

 

Dr. Sid

Dr. Sid took a whole different turn where it came to money making and instead, ventured into making his own luxury cookie brand called ‘Indulge’ using high quality ingredients such as Kenyan cocoa powder and Belgian chocolate to create his signature cookies. It has certainly paid off.
