6 Nigerian youths for USA leadership training

Young Nigerians selected from the six geopolitical zones of the country are undergoing a one-month exchange programme in Washington DC, USA.

The programme, according to a statement, is the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP), which is a professional exchange programme of the US government. It is the first physical training since the pandemic.

The project tagged: “Human Rights and Civic Engagement for Youths”, is aimed at leaders of youth organisations dedicated to the positive and responsible promotion of public awareness and advocacy on the subject of human rights and civic participation.

One of Nigeria’s participants, Ismail Bello, said, “Through this programme, I have learned from people of diverse cultures and seen how civic engagement is done in the USA. This will help me improve my activities.

“The training is giving me a professional boost, as well as introduced me to a wider pool of civic leaders working on human rights, democracy and governance which has given me sufficient knowledge to add to my work.”
