6 suspected cultists arrested during meeting in Edo hotel

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested six suspects for their alleged involvement in cultism.
The suspects—identified as Usifo Omojale, Imafidon Jesurobo Frank (31), Godstime Iliyoma (23), Lukeman Itsagwode (38), Usifoh Omomgiade (31), and Ibhafidon Omonkhegbe (35)—were reportedly apprehended while holding a meeting in a hotel near Benin City.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Eno Ikoedem, stated that the police received intelligence regarding cult-related criminal activities within the Eyaen axis, near Benin City.
She said suspected criminal gang was allegedly involved in kidnapping, extortion, cultism, and other violent acts terrorizing residents in the area.
She noted that the intelligence specifically revealed the group was holding a meeting at a hotel in Eyaen.
Acting on this information, police operatives stormed the location and arrested the suspects.
According to the spokesperson, the suspects have confessed to being members of the Black Axe (Aye) confraternity. Ikoedem added that the suspects would be arraigned in court following the conclusion of investigations, which are currently ongoing to dismantle the group’s entire network.
