At least 600 rural women in Kaltungo and Shongom local government areas of Gombe state have been trained on seven different vocational skills.

The empowerment training was sponsored by a member of the House of Representatives, Hajiya Fatima Binta Bello.

Speaking in Kaltungo during the graduation ceremony of the beneficiaries, Hajiya Binta who is representing Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency said the beneficiaries were selected from her constituency and the neighboring Balanga and Billiri local government areas of the state.

She said the women had underwent training in seven different skills which includes soap, shampoo, room freshener, detergent and curry making, saying the gesture was done under Binta Women Empowerment and Community Development Programme.

The lawmaker also announced the donation of N20, 000 to each of the beneficiary of the programme as take-off grant to start the trade they learnt.

She urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the grant and improve the trade they learnt through organizing a step-down training to others at their various communities.
