The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has trained 600 teachers on ICT-based Model Education systems. 

The five weeks-training for FCT and Nigeria-Korea Model School teachers, was organised in partnership with the Federal Capital Territory Administration and Universal Basic Education Commission. 

The training was part of the USD 15 Million “Project for the Establishment of the Model Schools for Primary and Junior Secondary Education in Abuja, Nigeria’’ that started in 2013.

It aimed at improving the overall capacity of teachers in public primary and junior secondary schools in Nigeria through the use of appropriate ICT systems. 

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the fourth series in Abuja, KOICA Country Director, Sook Hyun Park said the training would enable the teachers inject additional value into the public education systems.  

She expressed optimism that the Nigeria-Korea Model School, billed to be opened in September 2018, would provide an admirable education environment for learners. 

The Chargé d’affaires of Korea’s embassy, Song Yong-Min said the $15 million grant was a good example of Korea’s commitment to developing relationship between both countries.
