The project known as Parco Gateway Fertilizer Manufacturing Company Limited is a joint venture between the Gateway Holdings Limited, an investment agency of Ogun State Government and a leading Indian company, the Parco Group. The plant would make use of abundant phosphate clay materials in Ifo, Ososun, Oja-Odan and Igbokoto areas of the state, with the first phase estimated to gulp two million dollars, which would be ready by next year.

Inspecting the site of the project on Monday, the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to the overall development of the state, saying when completed, the factory would put an end to the perennial challenge of inadequate or late supply of fertilizers to farmers in the state as well as enhance the state industrialization profile.

The Governor at the industrial estate also inaugurated a number of projects completed by Parco Group which included a Glass company currently producing 30,000 metric tons of figured and float glass per annum, an hydrotech chemicals company producing Aluminium at 25,000 tons per annum capacity and Sulphuric acid at 50,000 metric tons per annum as well as a fertilizer plant currently producing Sodium-silicate at a capacity of 25,000 per annum.

Daniel described the various projects as a manifestation of his government’s private sector driven approach to drive the state to greater heights of economic prosperity, adding that “the state is now awake and marching steadily towards attaining its full potential as investment destination of choice.”

Said the Governor “It is gratifying that our investment drives are already yielding positive, bountiful results, the spate of commissioning of factories, establishment of small and medium businesses and the attendant increase in the people moving in droves to our state bear testimony to the efficacy of our industrial and socio-economic development strategy.”

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of PARCO Group, Mr P.K Gupta described the project as the first of its kind in West African sub-region.
