The state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed disclosed this in Ilorin, the state capital recently saying that the programme was under the state Community Health Insurance Scheme (CHIS).
Ahmed spoke at the investiture/presentation of Lion Ayobola Samuel as the District-Governor of Lions Club International, District 404 B2, Nigeria.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, the governor said plans were on the way to expand the scheme across the state under the amended Kwara State Health Insurance Law.
He said: “Consequently, in order to ensure access to affordable and quality health care, reduce exclusion and social disparities in health care coverage, five general hospitals in the state have been renovated and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
Ahmed commended the positive impact Lions Club was making on the lives of Kwarans and urged the organisation to keep the good work.
