President Muhammadu Buhari recently broke his silence on the rumour by certain persons that the man in the Villa, was cloned. The president, who spoke in Poland, maintained that he was alive and not dead.  The story of a double or cloned Buhari has been in circulation for some time now, especially on social media. The source of the fake news or conspiracy theory was traced to the Facebook wall of Nmandi Kanu, the separatist leader of Independent People of Biafra (IPOB).  Many politicians have used this fake news to manipulate people for selfish gains. I think the president’s media aides should have acted faster on this issue. They should have reacted before it spread.

Their silence created room for promoters of the theory to do havoc.  I hope they learn from this and act quickly whenever something like this comes up. Nigerians should relax and be assured that they are being governed by the same man they elected. The same Buhari, who introduced tough measures against looters such as the single treasury account and bank verification number, N-power, school feeding program and traders-money to alleviate the long suffering of Nigerians, is still the one in power.
