The SMASE Circle 2, first Cohort National Training, was attended by primary school teachers from Gombe, Nasarawa, Kogi, Sokoto states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The Director General of the Institute, Dr. Aminu Ladan Sharehu, represented by the institution’s Registrar, Hajiya Safiya Umar, said the objective of the training was to boost teachers’ quality in sciences and mathematics.
He said the participants will later train their colleagues in their respective states on the new skills of responding to pupils demands.
“Those who attended the training will channel the knowledge they have gained at the training to 200 core teachers in their respective states, who will in turn pass the same knowledge to other teachers at the local or cluster levels,” he said.
He said the withdrawal of the Japanese as one of the key funders of the programme will not in any way affect its quality, rather, the federal government will in collaboration with its agencies sustain the SMASE.
