6th Ake Festival opens in Lagos for first time

Lola Shoneyin, Director of the Ake Arts & Book Festival, has said the event will continue to be a safe space for writers, artists and creatives generally, to express themselves and their work.

Shoneyin, while welcoming guests, also hinted that the festival, birthed in Abeokuta, and holding for the first time in Lagos this year, could be a moving event, possibly being held in many other cities in the coming years.

Present at the opening, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, is Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who is expected to declare the festival open.
