About 7,000 candidates have applied for admission into the Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano, a statement from the institution, revealed.
The statement signed by the institution’s Head of Information Publication and Public Relations Unit, Abdullahi Abba Hassan, said the candidates were competing for the 1,323 slots approved by the National University Commission (NUC) for the institution.
The students applied for various degree programmes for 2017/2018 Academic session.
According to the statement about 5000 candidates applied through Joint Admission and matriculation Board (JAMB) and had conducted Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (PUTME) at the university’s main campus on 16th October.
It added that over 2000 others applied through Direct Entry (DE) and had been screened on 17th October, 2017.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Mustapha Ahmad Isa, who personally monitored the examination and screening exercise, described them as successful.
“The management of the university is determined to move the institution to international standard,” he said.
