Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested seven suspects over the alleged murder of a Point of Sale (POS) operator in the state.

It would be recalled that gunmen on December 31, 2025, shot and killed a POS operator identified as Raphael Eletanye (38), and carted away an undisclosed sum of money.

The suspects—identified as Idemudia Enadeghe (33), Musa Abdulsalam Kulele (33), Kelechi John (25), Stefan Braimah (26), Wisdom Osasere (29), Miracle Osayande (32), and Miracle Monday (28)—are allegedly members of a seven-man armed robbery syndicate terrorizing the Sakponba area of Benin City.

The command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, stated that the investigation into the murder at MM Way, off Sapele Road, Benin City, led to the arrest of the syndicate responsible for the crime.

She noted that following the suspects’ arrest, the police raided their armoury at Idahosa Street, off Mission Road, and recovered one locally made 8-round revolver and one locally made single-barrel pistol.

She added that the police also recovered a white mini-bus used by the suspects during the operation.

According to the spokesperson, the suspects confessed to being members of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity.
