The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested seven suspected bandits in connection with ongoing investigations into criminal activities in Bagudo Local Government Area, including the recent killing of three Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Command said the arrests were made on June 5 during intelligence-led operations targeting criminal networks operating within the Soda Forest axis and adjoining border communities.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the operations were part of intensified efforts to dismantle banditry networks and disrupt supply chains supporting criminal activities in the region.
He said operatives of the Mobile Police Force intercepted three suspects along the Illo–Lolo Road while they were travelling on a Haojue motorcycle from the Soda Forest area toward border settlements.
He said preliminary investigations allegedly showed that the suspects were on a mission to procure food supplies for armed groups hiding in forest locations.
The suspects were identified as Muhammadu Bande, Aliyu Abubakar and Muhammadu Aliyu. The motorcycle used was also recovered.
In a separate operation along the Bakin Ruwa–Ka’oje axis, four other suspects—Haruna Abubakar, Abubakar Lawali, Anme Shehu and Yahaya Shehu—were also arrested.
The police said all suspects are in custody while investigations continue to determine their level of involvement in recent security breaches, including the attack that led to the killing of the three FRSC personnel.
